Sony pays $15 million in free games to settle PSN hacking

In 2011, PlayStation Network services and websites were taken down due to an “external intrusion.” Anonymousclaimed responsibility for the data breach, which included names, passwords, and possibly financial information.

Sony apologizedfor the incident with a "WelcomeBack" package, which distributed free (older) games in order to bring PlayStation users back.
