More than 500,000 euros were lost from European bank customers' bank accounts, Kaspersky Lab's global research and analysis team revealed. In just one week, more than half a million euros were stolen.

The first electronic "signs" of this operation were discovered on January 20, when Kaspersky Lab experts detected "traces" of a Trojan program used to steal money from the bank accounts of customers of the bank, the name of which was not disclosed.

The experts also found transaction logs, which included information about the amounts of money taken from specific accounts. In total, they were able to identify over 190 victims, most of whom were located in Italy and Turkey.

The amounts stolen from each bank account, according to the records, ranged from 1,700 to 39,000 euros.

"Shortly after we identified traces of the theft, we contacted the bank's security service and the authorities and submitted all the information we had collected," said Vicente Diaz, lead security researcher at Kaspersky Lab.
