Max was born last week, but the couple announced the news of her birth on Tuesday (Dec. 1).
Zuckerberg , including one from Melinda Gates, the wife of Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who along with other high-profile billionaires have created their own foundations to devote their vast fortunes to charitable endeavors.
Chan and Zuckerberg have given away $1.6 billion to charity so far. They have made several donations this year, including to public schools, initiatives to improve wireless internet access, and San Francisco General Hospital, where Chan works as a pediatrician.
Zuckerberg said he would remain Facebook 's CEO for "many, many more years" and said Facebook is expected to be the company's controlling shareholder in the "near future," meaning it owns more than half of the shares or a majority of the shares in the company.
