Poland: Hackers took control of 10 aircraft
More than 1,400 passengers experienced the ultimate "odyssey" on Sunday at Warsaw Airport in Poland, as ten planes they were on werecontrolled by a group of hackers, causing them to land at the airport... in Warsaw and not at their destination.
All this, as reported by mashable.com, while 12 other flights were delayed for the same reason.
Hackers took over the company's ground systems, responsible for creating flight plans, causing those responsible to be unable to operate them and paralyzing Warsaw airport for a short period of time.
A company spokesman said that the airport's computers had been taken out of service, but the airport has not been significantly affected, except for flight landings and other delays.
At the same time, he pointed out that the situation has been brought under control and that there is no reason for concern. He also stressed that the operation of the airport has been restored and is continuing at normal pace.
Authorities say they are investigating the incident and trying to identify the hackers, as they are certain that this is a group and not an isolated incident.
