The bookmarks menu and tools in modern browsers haven't changed much, but synchronization has been automated so that they are shared across all of the user's devices. Firefox Sync , as well as Google Sync , require a user account for the feature to be available, as well as for the user to remain logged in to their account.
However, for cases where a user wants to transfer their bookmarks without using the Sync function, then they will have to use the old transfer method, which perhaps few people know about today. This method may seem a bit complicated and lags behind Sync, due to the fact that it will only transfer the bookmarks that are already in the folder and not the future ones, but it also has certain advantages. For example, in addition to the privacy it offers, it can be used even if the user is not connected to the internet.
In general, most browsers allow the export of bookmarks in HTML file format, as a list of links that most browsers support.
In Chrome, for example, through the shortcut Ctrl-Shift-o, the Bookmark manager opens. From there the user can select “Export Bookmarks to HTML file”. In the new browser of the new system the user opens the Bookmark manager again and selects “Import bookmarks from HTML file”. From the new window he can select the location where the HTML file he exported has been saved and pass the links to the new browser. It is a very simple process without the need to log in to an account or connect to the Internet.
