Everyone has a secret that lies deep inside them. A new Twitter bot called @secrets_exe has been designed specifically to help those who want to tell their secret to someone, but don't know who. All they need to do is tweet.
Secrets_exe. is quite simple. The first step is for the user to follow the bot. Then, after the bot follows him back, he can send a direct message stating the secret he has inside. Immediately, secrets_exe will send back someone else's secret, but without either of them knowing the other and without any evidence of the identity of the 2 users.
The @secrets_exe account was created by novice programmer Josh Nalven, who used it as a way to learn about JavaScript features and functions. It’s worth noting that while the bot won’t reveal the identities of other users whose secrets it displays, nothing is 100% private, as Nalven can see users’ messages and their names. He does, however, promise to respect users’ privacy. He does say that he has two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled on his account, so it’s highly unlikely that anyone would be able to access the bot and reveal anyone’s secrets.
The idea behind the Twitter bot is that freely sharing thoughts and secrets with a stranger is certainly liberating for everyone. But by reading others' posts, we know we're not alone!
