The Syrian Electronic Army ( SEA ) has taken over the websites of several Western media outlets
The first websites to be attacked were those of the American network CNBC and the newspaper "Intependent", with users seeing the message on their screens: "You've been hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA)".
SEA first appeared in 2011, appearing friendly to the Assad regime, as a “response” to the way Western media covered the issue of terrorism.
In the past, it has attacked Microsoft, Skype, and even the personal accounts maintained on Facebook and Twitter by US President Barack Obama.
