Microsoft released 6 new security updates as part of its established Patch Tuesday , with two of them classified as critical and three as essential.
Among the security updates, a patch is included to address a critical vulnerability, which affects all versions of Internet Explorer still on the market, including IE 6.
Internet Explorer 6 is the default browser version of Windows XP, so the old operating system, which no longer receives updates and security patches since April 8, is again vulnerable to attacks.
Paul Ducklin of Sophos says that this patch is very important for Internet Explorer users, as it prevents remote code execution by unauthorized users.
Windows XP, however, is no longer supported by Microsoft, which warns that everyone still running this version of the operating system should upgrade as soon as possible, because the risk of their systems being compromised is increasing day by day.
