A team of developers from MIT and former Dropboxhave announced Inbox, an open-source proposal to replace the IMAP and SMTP.
The developers behind Inbox believe that there has been no innovation in the email sector for years and presented their own proposal, which is not an application or email client, but a new technology .
Inbox is therefore a new technology in the hands of developers, which includes a new API and a cloud service , in order to develop new solutions for email clients , applications that work with Microsoft , Google and Yahoo services and possibly a new email management environment.
At present, there is no clear plan for the use and exploitation of Inbox, but the fact that it is open source and freepromises that the first results will appear soon.
