Now that Microsoft no longer provides support for older versions of Internet Explorer and Windows XP, software developers around the world have begun to gradually abandon these solutions, one by one.
Following this trend, the developers of Adblock Plus have announced that Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7 will no longer be supported, meaning that users will need to use Internet Explorer 8 or later to install the add-on.
Adblock Plus is a popular browser add-on that removes unwanted ads and contributes to a safer and more "carefree" browsing experience, regardless of the website the user visits.
At the same time, the application's development team announced that the tweaks that have been made to its website to work with Internet Explorer 6 will also have to be removed, so users will not be able to load the page unless they switch to a supported version of the browser.
This doesn't mean that Adblock Plus will no longer work with Windows XP, the developers explain, as users will still be able to use it with the operating system that launched almost 13 years ago. The only thing they need to do is upgrade to Internet Explorer 8, a newer version of the browser that works in a Windows XP environment.
