Privacy on social media can be a lie. The whole idea of sites like Twitter and Facebook is to share. Sure, you can limit the extent and audience of your information, but once it's stored on servers, you lose control.
There is always the possibility of it being shared accidentally, which can happen if we don't understand the settings. Some argue that the settings are intentionally difficult to understand.
Sometimes people need to restrict or hide certain information for security reasons. Unfortunately, Twitter announced that a bug that affected 19,788 accounts allowed unauthorized users to read protected tweets.
