Pastebin site where anyone can post information they want to share. However, in recent times, it has become a “station” where hackers publish their… exploits.
The company High-Tech Bridge, through its research, revealed that in the last year alone, over 300,000 user account information has been leaked to Pastebin , an average of about 1,000 in each leak.
Some of the hackers use Pastebin to sell the account details they have managed to steal, but most of them simply to prove that they hacked someone's account.
There are also cases where some of them share information they obtained from law enforcement agencies to prove that they can breach their security systems.
However, the research also revealed other interesting facts. Most of the leaks were caused by the use of insecure web applications as well as devices infected with Trojan.
We also see that most accounts were stolen from web mail services, with the majority coming from Google and Yahoo. Finally, 92% of account details stolen from social networking sites came from Facebook.
It is also interesting that several accounts had overly easy security codes and that many users used the same codes for multiple accounts, thus making the hackers' job easier.
So, if you don't want your personal data to fall into the hands of hackers, there are two very simple steps to protect yourself. First, using complex passwords on your accounts and second, constantly updating and upgrading your security software.
And most importantly: be very careful about what you upload and share on the Internet.
