It seems that Facebook suffers from a lack of imagination, as there are many times when the most popular Social Network has stolen the brand name of a product or a company. This time the discussion is about the brand name "Paper", as Facebook released an application with this name, while there is already a Paper application from the company Fifty Three.
The folks at Fifty Three have long created the Paper app , which allows users to draw and take notes on iPads. In fact, the app is so popular that it was named Apple's App of the Year in 2012
After Facebook announced the Paper News Reader app, the Fifty Three team was surprised to see their app name being used by another company. For this reason, the company immediately rushed to trademark the “Paper” name and amicably request from Facebook, via a blog post, to change the name of its Paper app.
For its part, Facebook simply apologized to Fifty Three for not notifying the company earlier about the use of the name “Paper.” It seems that Facebook is not going to change the name of its application and all roads lead to another lawsuit for Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s founder and CEO, as had previously happened with the trademark “Timeline.”
