New York Times video on the imprisonment of addicted teenagers

Camp-like Internet addiction clinics have been created in recent years in China, a country where the method of… imprisoning teenagers who are addicted to the Internet is a common practice.

The New York Times visited one of these clinics and spoke with the teenagers, most of whom are held there against their will and are eager to return home to their parents.

Daxing, the Internet Addiction Treatment Center located in a suburb of Beijing, was founded in 2004. It was one of the first, and now there are hundreds across China and South Korea. According to the NYT, the first Internet Addiction Treatment Center in the United States for teenagers addicted to the Internet recently opened in Pennsylvania.
