China supports the creation of a mobile operating system, which is designed to offer an alternative to foreign platforms and is approved by the state .
Translated as China Operating System (COS), the operating system is expected to be used for the first time on mobile devices, with possible expansion to other platforms.
According to reports from tech blog Engadget China, COS was designed by developers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, along with private companies. The operating system is said to be based on open-source Linux in some way and is expected to compete with Android and iOS in the mobile space.
