Web hosting and cloud computing company Linode has been hacked once again. The attack was confirmed by the company's founder and CEO, Christopher Aker. The attackers managed to infiltrate an old server of the company and gain access to the database stored on it, using access credentials that had been stolen from a previous attack.
The company stated that it had taken all necessary measures to improve security after the hacking attack it had suffered in the spring of 2013, but the compromised server had been neglected because “it played no role in Linode's infrastructure”.
ZDNet reports that a user with the alias “n0tryan” had posted the credentials for a Linode server.
The database is said to have contained numbers of invalid credit cards, user names, email addresses, and encrypted passwords.
