Formula 1 and Sky agree new long-term partnership

Formula 1 and Sky have announced a new multi-year deal, extending their long-standing and close partnership and ensuring Sky Sports subscribers in the UK , Ireland and Italy have exclusive access to all the action from every Formula 1 race weekend for the next decade.

In the UK and Republic of Ireland, where 2025 saw the most successful F1 season in Sky Sports history, viewers will continue to watch the championship for another five seasons, with the partnership extending until 2034.In Italy, Formula 1 fans will have access to all the action on Sky Italia until the 2032.

Under the new deal, Sky will continue to broadcast all free practice, qualifying, sprint races and Grand Prix races on Sky Sports (UK and Ireland), Sky Sport (Italy) and the NOW, while also continuing to broadcast F1 Kids, Formula 1’s innovative product aimed at younger audiences.

In the UK, highlights of each Grand Prix as well as a live broadcast of the British Grand Prix will continue to be offered on free-to-air television. In Italy, all races will be broadcast live on the exclusive Sky Sport F1, while TV8 will also offer free-to-air coverage, including a live broadcast of each Italian Grand Prix.

The partnership also includes extensive coverage of Formula 2, Formula 3, F1 ACADEMY and Porsche Supercup, which remain on Sky's schedule, offering motorsport fans unique access to the sport's rising talents.

Since 2019, when Sky became the exclusive home of Formula 1 in the UK and Ireland, it has played a key role in the growth of the sport in these markets, as well as in other English-speaking countries where it broadcasts. Overall viewership in the UK and Ireland has increased by 90%, while the under-35 audience has increased by 120%.

At the same time, the female audience has more than doubled. In the last three seasons alone (2023–2025), viewership increased by 14%, culminating in the 2025 season, which broke all previous records by amassing 162 million hours of viewing.

Formula 1 and Sky agree new long-term partnership

In Italy, thanks to strong performances by Ferrari and Kimi Antonelli respectively, television ratings for the 2026 season started with a 25%. The Italian driver's maiden victory at the Chinese Grand Prix was watched live by 1.2 million viewers on Sky, while a further 1.4 million viewers tuned in on TV8.
