As 2014 approaches, security companies have already started making their predictions about the coming year.
Security company Websense also presented its own estimates, issuing a report titled “2014: Security Predictions”.
“During 2013, bypassing traditional security methods became an art form for cybercriminals ,” said Websense vice president Charles Renert.
“In 2014, cyberattacks are expected to become even more complex and diverse. And while the overall volume of advanced malware will decrease – we predict that the volume of targeted attacks and data breaches will increase. Organizations will need to continually look for new ways to protect themselves, as attackers will continue to find new ways to bypass traditional defenses.”
Websense also warns of a major data destruction attack, in which Ransomware is expected to play a significant role.
In 2014, Java will remain highly exploitable and exploitable, while social networks will be increasingly used to find new potential targets by cybercriminals.
