Pakistani hackers from the Madleets group have hacked and altered the content of the official Daily Mail Forum (boards.dailymail.co.uk).
According to a message posted by the hackers on their Facebook page, the attack took place last Sunday.
However, at the time of writing, the website has been restored. A mirror of the corruption is available at zone-h.org.
HackRead notes that hackers likely exploited a vBulletin vulnerability to gain access to the MailOnline forum.
The Madleets group has defaced many well-known websites in recent times. However, they usually rely on DNS contamination for their attacks. In this case, however, it seems that they have actually managed to compromise the Daily Mail website.
This is not the first time the Daily Mail has been targeted by hacktivists. In February 2012, the news outlet was hacked and defaced by TeaMp0isoN.
