Facebook removed a video depicting the beheading of a woman from its website.
It announced that it intends to use a broader set of criteria to determine when violent videos are allowed to be posted.
This announcement came a day after public outcry over the decision to lift the temporary ban on images and videos with violent content.
Facebook announced on Monday that it would allow the posting of violent photos and videos as long as their purpose is to condemn and not glorify them.

"When we review content that users have reported to us, we will look more broadly at the context around a violent image or video. Second, we will consider whether the person who posted this content is sharing it with others responsibly, such as whether it is accompanied by a warning," Facebook said in a statement on Tuesday.
British Prime Minister David Cameron condemned Facebook's policy, noting that "it is irresponsible to allow a video of a woman's beheading to be posted, especially without any warning. They should explain their actions to concerned parents," he said.
