Google TV Streamer has received its first update, which brings a new feature that allows users to manually select audio output formats, such as Dolby formats.
About two months after its release, Google has started rolling out the first update for Google TV Streamer. While the update is small and doesn't include any changes to the short changelog, it does add a new feature that wasn't previously mentioned.

Through the Settings menu, a new “Output Format” option has been added to the “Audio Options” section. This new option page allows users to specify the audio output format that is transmitted for their audio material. The default setting is “Automatic,” but users can select Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, or stereo PCM. This option was not available prior to the update.
However, this update is not a complete fix for an issue that has been occurring. Many users, including those in our comments section, have requested support for audio passthrough on Streamer. This feature was supported on Chromecast with Google TV, but is missing from Streamer. Passthrough is often used in home theater setups to provide higher quality audio. Instead, Streamer passes audio to your speakers as PCM or, now, Dolby Digital formats, which aren’t ideal for all setups and have caused issues for some users.
