Dyson recently announced its first Audio Only OnTrac Headphones. Moving away from the Zone Headphones concept, it focuses on comfort, sound quality, and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).
Dyson is a company that manufactures and designs household appliances. It was founded in 1991 in Singapore by James Dyson. During 2022, Dyson developed the Zone Headphones using the knowledge it possesses, developing air filtering components in the Zone Headphones, when Covid was still a big problem in our daily lives. However, the purpose of the Zone Headphones was not to protect against Covid but to purify the air against urban pollution during their daily use. With a short battery life and a price of $ 949.Many of the negative reviews that the Zone Headphones received were related to the appearance of the components and their practicality, which led to the development of the new OnTrac Headphones.
Dyson unveiled the Dyson OnTrac headphones on July 18 , focusing on the headphones’ clean, high-quality, and quiet sound and improved battery life. The new Dyson OnTrac Audio Only Headphones upgrade the battery to 55 hours even with Active Noise Cancellation enabled during operation, and the reason is the two high-capacity lithium-ion batteries they have, which will allow them to need a charge every 2 weeks. With the battery also being moved from the earcups to the headband of the headphones, ensuring better weight balance and comfort during use.
The Dyson OnTrac Audio Only Headphones feature 40mm, 16-ohm drivers, which allow them to reproduce a frequency response of 6Hz to 21kHz, compared to the typical 20Hz to 20kHz. This frequency range allows us to hear even the lowest bass notes, offering clear lows and highs.
Also focusing on the impressive ANC, Dyson says that the designed ANC algorithm using 8 microphones analyzes the external environment 384,000 times per second filtering out 40kb of unwanted sounds, resulting in a quieter environment. The speakers are also designed to be tilted 13 inches towards the ear to provide an instantly immersive audio experience. At the same time, users will also be able to choose one of 3 EQ Modes which will be Bass Boost, Neutral and Enhanced for Dyson OnTrac Headphones through the MyDyson.
The OnTrac headphones will be available in aluminum/orange, bronze/blue, black nickel, and ceramic red from Dyson for $500. Replacement earcups and cushions will be available for $50 for a set of two. Only a few colors will be available from other retailers, so you'll have to buy most options directly from Dyson.
