In the latest AirPods beta firmware, Apple is tweaking the controls to make it easier for users to adjust the noise cancellation feature.
At the moment, AirPods Pro users can turn noise cancellation on or off and use adaptive sound. The latter automatically adjusts transparency mode and active noise cancellation based on what’s happening around you. It’s like having a smart audio assistant that knows when to let external sounds in and when to keep them out.
So, the AirPods Pro already adjust their noise cancellation based on how quiet or noisy surroundings . But because it happens automatically, it's not always what you want. That's exactly what the new AirPods Pro feature aims to fix.

This upgrade puts users in the driver's seat. Customizable Adaptive Audio lets you adjust the cancellation levels to your liking. The beta shows that you'll be able to switch between default, less noise, or more noise.
We don't have a clear date for when this firmware update will be released. But it's the same update that adds cool new features like shaking or tilting your head to reject or accept calls, as well as the new Siri interactions mentioned earlier. Apple teased this update multiple times during its WWDC keynote, so it's a safe bet that it'll arrive with iOS 18 in the fall.
