At CES 2024, Dell announces the UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor, redefining display technology.
It’s almost time for CES, which means we’ll be seeing a lot of new monitors vying for our attention, among other things. Dell is hoping its new UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor will stand out from the competition. Announced just days before CES 2024 kicks off , it’s billed as “the first 40-inch 5K monitor to be certified for five-star eye comfort ,” according to Dell.

Five-star eye comfort is a new industry standard from TUV Rheinland, aimed at highlighting monitors that help reduce eye strain. Dell says it made three improvements to its UltraSharp monitors to achieve this certification: it increased the refresh rate to 120Hz, added an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust brightness and color temperature, and upgraded its ComfortView Plus technology to reduce blue light exposure.
The UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub delivers exceptional performance, with 99% DCI-P3/Display P3 color space, 1.07 billion colors, VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, IPS Black Panel technology, and 2,000:1 contrast. In terms of connectivity, it supports Thunderbolt 4 with 140W power delivery, Ethernet with speeds up to 2.5 Gbps, HDMI 2.1, and DisplayPort 2.1, with easy-access USB-A and USB-C ports on the front for connecting and charging devices.

For those who find the 40-inch model too large, there's also a 34-inch option. The UltraSharp 34 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor also features a five-star eye-comfort rating, IPS Black technology, and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, although it's not a 5K monitor, but it does have a WQHD 2,560 x 1,440 resolution.
Both models will be available worldwide starting February 27, with the UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor starting at $2,400 in the US and $3,290 CAD in Canada, while the 34-inch model costs $1,020 in the US and $1,400 CAD in Canada.
