Kyivstar , Ukraine 's largest telecommunications provider serving over 25 million users, has suffered a cyberattack affecting mobile and data services.

The company's official website was found offline ,but the company informed subscribers about the cyberattack through its social media channels.
“This morning, we were the target of a powerful hacking attack. It caused a technical failure, resulting in services being temporarily unavailable,” Kyivstar said in a statement yesterday.

The Ukrainian telecom provider reported the incident to authorities law enforcement and other relevant state agencies. The SSU (Security Service of Ukraine) initiated criminal proceedings under 8 articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and stated that its special agents have launched investigations to investigate the incident and find the perpetrators.
Independent internet watchdog, NetBlocks , confirmed that internet services via Kyivstar were unavailable, showing a sharp drop in traffic since yesterday morning, when the incident took place.
Kyivstar was quick to explain that the cyberattack has not compromised the personal data of customers/subscribers and that all subscribers who cannot use the provider's services will receive compensation.
At this time, it is not known who is behind the attack on Ukrainian telecom provider Kyivstar. However, both the company's CEO and SSU have suggested that Russian hackers are behind the attack and that the incident is linked to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia.
For those affected by the outage, Vodafone Ukraine told X that their roaming service is available. Since the start of the war, Ukrainian companies have built a resilient system of free domestic roaming. When one provider is unavailable, users can switch to another provider’s network to access mobile and internet services.

Additionally, Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klimenkotold local media that Ukrainians can use the emergency numbers 101, 102 and 112 under any circumstances, while it is possible to contact relatives by going to the nearest police or fire department.
