Meta announced that it will not integrate artificial intelligence technology into Ray-Ban 's "Smart Glasses" before next year, even though this feature seemed promising.
Today, the company is introducing a pre-launch access program that will allow Ray-Ban Meta “Smart Glasses” users to try out new AI features. These features leverage the glasses’ camera and microphones to analyze ambient information and provide the user with insights into their surroundings.
The way this all works is pretty straightforward. You start a sentence to Meta AI by saying, “Hey Meta, take a look at this,” and follow it up with the details. For example, “Hey Meta, look at this plate of food and tell me what ingredients were used.” To answer the question, the glasses capture an image of what’s in front of you and then analyze the various elements and information with the help of genetic artificial intelligence.
Their functions go beyond the usual questions like “What building is that?” or “What’s the weather like today?” An example of this was demonstrated by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in an Instagram Reel . In the video, Zuckerberg asks Meta AI: “Take a look and tell me, what pants would go with this shirt?” The voice assistant not only recognizes the garment, but also suggests pairing it with dark jeans or a solid-colored pair of pants.
Initially, the new update will only be available to a limited number of users, as Meta plans to collect feedback and improve the upcoming AI features before their official release . To participate, you need to update the Meta View app to the latest version, click on the gear icon in the bottom right corner of the menu, scroll down to the “Early Access” option, and tap “Join Early Access.”
