Η Mozilla recently acquired the Fakespot, an online service that helps users to identify fake reviews, unreliable sellers and counterfeit products on the internet. After the acquisition, Mozilla integrated Fakespot's technology into Firefox browser. The new Firefox feature will be called "Review Checker" and will initially work for products sold in Amazon, BestBuy and Walmart. The Firefox browser has recently started testing this useful feature.
Firefox Review Checker: What is it?
Mozilla Firefox's new Review Checker feature is currently an experimental feature designed to help you with your shopping choices. Using Fakespot's technology, this tool evaluates the authenticity of reviews of various products on the internet. It essentially helps you to distinguish whether the reviews come from genuine customers or if they are fake, created by bot or people who are paid to speak positively about the products or speak negatively to discredit them.

How to use the Review Checker in Firefox;
You will be able to use the Review Checker very easily. Visit the page of a product on Amazon, Bestbuy or the Walmart and look for the new price icon at the top. Click on the icon and select "Yes, try it" to activate the reviews check. Immediately, Review Checker will analyze the reviews on the product page and rate them using the system described above. Privacy
The new feature respects privacy of users using Oblivious HTTP (OHTTP), which prevents Mozilla from linking the user or their device to the products they have viewed.
Version
In addition, the feature is "lightweight" and will not affect the speed browsing or performance of the browser.
Mozilla is considering rolling out Review Checker widely with Firefox version 120 for desktop and Android, which will be released on 21 November 2023.
Such a tool is very useful, considering that lately, fake reviews have been a challenge to the credibility of trading on the internet.

Fake reviews have a significant impact on online shopping
False reviews undermine consumer confidence, influencing purchasing decisions. It is impossible to argue with the fact that consumers expect reviews to reflect real experiences users rather than being falsely positive to promote a product or falsely negative for the purpose of defamation.
Also, fake product reviews harm not only consumers, but also the brands themselves. The online reputation of a business e-commerce is essential and a vital key to success. Therefore, working to highlight product quality and develop customer trust through real feedback can benefit long-term business development.
So Review Checker, the new Firefox feature, revolutionises the search for truth in online reviews.
While nothing can completely eliminate the Risk of fake reviews, Mozilla's Review Checker paves the way for more meaningful and lasting solutions to address this problem.
