Mercedes -Benz USA has released its sales results for the second quarter of 2023, and the results are impressive, with up more than 600% sales electric vehicle (EV) . Based on these numbers, electric vehicles now represent 15% of Mercedes-Benz’s total passenger vehicle sales in the US.
It is worth noting that many American car companies saw reduced sales of their electric vehicles compared to the first quarter, but Mercedes-Benz cars appear to have been in high demand in the US.

The German automaker sold 11,927 electric vehicles in the second quarter of 2023, which is an increase of 608% compared to the same quarter last year. In total, in the first half of 2023, Mercedes has sold 19,268 electric vehicles.
Mercedes has five electric vehicles (EQ): EQS sedan, EQS SUV, EQB, EQE sedan and EQE SUV.
The EQS SUV is the company’s most popular car with 3,077 units sold. The EQS sedan also saw sales increase by 25% compared to last year. According to the company, 2,456 models were sold in the second quarter.
Dimitris Psyllakis, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, said regarding the company's increased sales:
“We are very encouraged by the exponential demand for our electric vehicle lineup and our flagship offerings. In particular, the EQS SUV and EQE SUV, both built in Alabama, continue to welcome new customers to the Mercedes-Benz brand.“.

As we mentioned above, Mercedes-Benz USA saw an increase in electric vehicle sales, but the same does not seem to be true for other American automakers, such as Ford and GM, which saw a decline in EV sales compared to the previous quarter.
General Motors sold 15,652 EVs in the second quarter, down from 19,700 in the first three months of the year. The company said a battery is hindering the automaker's vehicle production.
As for Ford, its electric vehicle sales fell 2.8% in the U.S. Ford sold a total of 14,843 EVs, compared to 15,273 in the first quarter of 2023. Ford said the sales decline was due in part to renovations at its Mexico plant to increase production of the Mustang Mach-E.
Despite the minor problems of other automakers, Mercedes-Benz seems to be doing just fine and increasing sales of its electric vehicles at a steady pace.
