To keep the contents of your Microsoft Word, you can add more protection by using a password .This means that a user must enter the password each time they open the protected document. Below is how you can password protect a document , using a feature built into Word itself.
It's worth noting that if you change your mind, you can unprotect document by removing the password protection.

Encrypt a Word document with a password
- To start password protecting your document, open your document with Microsoft Word on your computer.
- When your document opens, in the upper left corner of Word, click “File.”
- From the left sidebar, select “Info”.
- In the right pane, click Protect Document > Encrypt with Password.
- An “Encrypt Document” box will open. At this point, click on the “Password” field and type in the password you want to use to protect your document. Then click on “OK”.

Note: Make sure you don't forget the password and save it in a safe place, as you won't be able to open your document without it.
- In the “Confirm Password” box, click the “Reenter Password” field and type the same password. Then select “OK”.
- Save your changes by clicking “Save” in the left sidebar of Word.
That's it! Your Microsoft Word document is now protected and you will need to enter your password every time you try to open the document.

If you change your mind and want to remove the password, you can do so easily. Simply open your document in Microsoft Word and select File > Info > Protect Document > Encrypt with Password. Delete the contents of the “Password” field and click “OK.” Then, select “Save” from the left sidebar.
And this way you ensure that confidential Word documents are accessible only to you and authorized users.
