The Australian Communications and Multimedia Authority (ACMA) has ordered Internet service providers (ISPs) to block another nine offshore sites gambling as it considers them illegal.
The sites in question are: Roo Casino, GW Casino, Wager Beat, Joe Fortune, Ignition Casino, Casino Dingo, AU Slots, Top Bet and XBet.
The ACMA made this decision because it has received over 79 complaints about these services.
“The ACMA found, after investigations, that these services were operating in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001”, it said.
The committee warned Australian citizens to withdraw their money and stop using these sites.
The ACMA has forced ISPs to block a large number of illegal gambling sites over the past two years. Since 2017, at least 90 sites have been blocked.
The last block before these nine sites was in November 2019. At that time, ISPs blocked Emu Casino, which has since withdrawn from the Australian market , but still allows Australians to play through customer support .
Blockings are made in accordance with section 313 of the Telecommunications. Each block requires the signature of the chairman, deputy chairman or a senior officer of the ACMA.
ACMA will monitor the interruption of access to the website at regular intervals.
The Australian government is quite strict on the issue of online gambling and has been trying for years to limit the phenomenon and close down illegal gambling sites.
According to the Minister of Communications, Paul Fletcher, millions of dollars are spent each year on illegal gambling sites.
It is not possible to completely eliminate the phenomenon. However, the ACMA helps a lot in limiting it. The regulator forces ISPs to block illegal sites, thus protecting Australian citizens and creating a safer environment for online gambling.
