MonoCMS is a website content management system, just like WordPress, Blogger, Joomla, etc. 
The difference between Monocms and the above is that it belongs to the category of non-database systems. Data processing is done with PHP and their storage in XML. 
Thus, it uses the server's file system to store data, which makes it extremely simple, small in size, and very fast.
MonoCMS is made by a Greek web developer who lives in Athens (Panagiotis or Pano z), and so at the same time as the English version, it also acquired a Greek version.
The first compound of the system's name itself comes from the Greek word "mono".
Today, as Panagiotis (project developer) informed us, the new version 2.6 was released.
