You can now tweet with live video on Twitter for Android smartphones and iOS App
If Pornhub seriously thought Twitter would sell its "6-second" video app Periscope to it, it was wrong. While tech sites are writing obituaries for the Periscope app, Twitter has used it to develop a new feature called Live Video tweets.
Starting today, Twitter users who use the Android or iOS app and have updated to the latest version can now create and tweet live videos on their Twitter feed. The tweets are powered by Periscope. To tweet a live video, you’ll need to tap “Live,” which will take you to a pre-broadcast screen where you can frame your shot. Once you’re ready, be sure to tap “Go Live” to start broadcasting.
The new feature also allows other users to join you. Once you go live with your video broadcast, anyone with a Twitter and Periscope account will be able to join your live video session and even participate in your experience. The feature has been dubbed #GoLive and is now trending in several countries.
Twitter has been hit by a decline in its user base and heavy losses over the past year , so with this effort, it hopes to bring more users to the platform. The new #GoLive feature is similar to Facebook Live, a similar feature available to Facebook users.
