Windows 10 will soon become the number one operating system worldwide, according to Microsoft, which says its new system is on track to become the most successful version of Windows ever.
The free upgrade offer to users with Windows 7 and 8.1, as well as Microsoft's aggressive policy, certainly played a decisive role in the rapid adoption of Windows 10 by the public.
Microsoft revealed yesterday that the new operating system is running on approximately 350 million devices worldwide and that Windows 10 has recorded its best customer satisfaction score yet.
Of course, the company measures customer satisfaction from those who have already installed the operating system. But what about all those who are trying to block the upgrade from Windows 7 and 8.1?
“I would like to say a special thank you to each and every one of you who has upgraded to Windows 10. Over 350 million devices are running Windows 10, and customer satisfaction is higher than any previous version of Windows. Our customer engagement is also incredible with more than 135 billion hours of use on Windows 10 since launch,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President, Windows.
“We’re thrilled that so many of you are more productive and having more fun with Windows 10. Your feedback is a key element in designing the Anniversary Update.”
According to third-party data, Windows 10 is the second most widely used operating system in the world, with a market share that is approaching 20 percent.
Windows 7 continues to hold the top spot with about 50 percent of the market share.
Let's remember that Microsoft's goal is to bring Windows 10 to 1 billion devices by 2017. The company's goal seems very ambitious as currently there are too many businesses that do not dare to move to a new operating system.
Besides, the 50% of the market share that Windows 7 still holds, although the free upgrade offer expires on July 29, means something.
