Google has just launched a new platform called Project Bloks that aims to teach kids how to code in a playful way.
The project has three main components:
The Brain Board is a processing unit based on the Raspberry Pi Zero, to control and power the other connected units. It can also interact with other devices via WiFi and Bluetooth.
Meanwhile, Base Boards are the connecting units that allow you to design lesson plans.
let's move on to the Pucks , which are the fun pieces that interact with each other with arrows, buttons, panels, and more. All of these can be programmed to do a lot more.
You can also record instructions from multiple pucks into a single one. Since there are no active electrical components, everything can be made from a variety of inexpensive materials, such as plain paper with conductive ink.
It is too early to evaluate Project Bloks at this time, as it will need to be tested in a few selected schools first. If the results are satisfactory, we expect it to be expanded.
To understand Project Bloks watch the video below:
(According to the video, even if the kids don't learn to code, they will learn what perseverance means.).
