The Fedora Project has just announced the availability of the final release of the Fedora 24 operating system for desktop computers, servers, cloud, and embedded devices.
This particular release was delayed four times during its development cycle, but as of today it is available in the Fedora Workstation, Fedora Server, and Fedora Cloud variants, in the official Fedora Spins flavors Xfce, LXDE, KDE, MATE/Compiz, Cinnamon, and Sugar desktops.
Of course, users will also be able to download the Fedora 24 Labs Spins, which include the Design Suite, games, Robotic Suite, Scientific, and Security Lab.
All of the aforementioned releases and Spins share the same core, namely Linux kernel 4.5.7 and GNU C Library at version 2.23.
We should note that the Linux kernel 4.5.7 is the latest in the 4.5 series of Linux, and Fedora developers promised to upgrade to kernel 4.6 in the coming weeks.
Fedora 24 Workstation, as the main edition, is offered on the Project's website, and “wears” the latest stable GNOME 3.20.2 desktop environment, while Fedora 24 KDE Plasma Spin comes with KDE Plasma 5,6 desktop environment. All flavors of Fedora 24 have been developed using the GCC compiler 6.
Fedora 24 is available for immediate download, in Live ISO images for 64-bit, 32-bit, and ARM architectures.
