IP Box: unlock iPhone in a few hours

IP Box: It took almost 4 months for the FBI to crack the iPhone used by the San Bernardino terrorists. However, it appears that it can be done more easily, as a very affordable device promises to unlock iPhone phones in record time. It is also available in retail stores.IP box

A British company called Fone Fun Shop sells a device that can unlock an iPhone with iOS 7 in a few hours, as it manages to bypass the device's automatic lock and data wipe system by entering wrong passwords and then carry out brute-force attacks by trying all possible combinations until it discovers the correct password.

The Daily Mail found such a device in a store in Sheffield and bought it for just £120, i.e., €150. Then it tested the device to see its effectiveness on an iPhone 5C that was locked with a random four‑digit code.

The so‑called IP Box device was indeed effective. It checks each combination in about 6 seconds, and the total time of the whole process lasted 16.5 hours.

This means that it takes less than a day to crack an iPhone with iOS 7 and it is protected with a password, if the odds say it could be done faster if the correct password is among the first ones the device tries.
