The European Union Parliament condemns the unprecedented and indiscriminate mass data collection by the secret services of the United States and the United Kingdom (NSA and GCHQ).
According to the Guardian, the European Parliament is calling on the United States, the United Kingdom, and any other governments involved, to stop the data collection that has reached “an unprecedented scale” and says it is being conducted in an “indiscriminate and undocumented manner.”
The resolution calls on the United States and members of the European Union to ban mass surveillance activities and the bulk processing of personal data, given the controversial claims that such practices actually help fight terrorism.
The European Union also notes that the aforementioned intelligence services have refused to cooperate with the investigation it conducted.
