According to a recent study by MMD, the right choice of IT equipment is essential for the good health and well-being of office workers. With the new 24-inch PhilipsErgo, MMDensures that users stay healthy in the office
Athens, November 27, 2013: With a recent study showing that 80 percent of “knowledge workers” suffer from fatigue and pain after a hard day at the office, it is clear that user health and well-being is a challenge that manufacturers must take seriously. Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the good health of office workers, MMD, the leading high-tech display company and brand license partner of Philips PC monitors, has announced the launch of the new ErgoSensor , which completes its range of office monitors designed for well-being at work.
Over 80 percent of office workers suffer from work-related pain
MMD conducted a study on workplace ergonomics this year to learn more about office ergonomics and the challenges users face. The results of the study, which was conducted in Germany, Sweden and Denmark, are indeed alarming: over 80 percent of users have experienced pain and fatigue after a day in front of the computer, but only half of private sector employees in Germany have a height-adjustable monitor. As user responses in other countries have shown, the issue is not limited to Germany.
Better health and well-being with ErgoSensor monitors
With fully adjustable height, Philips ErgoSensor monitors answer the challenge of good health in the office. Like the rest of the monitors in the series, the new 24-inch ErgoSensor P monitor features a height-adjustable, swivel and tilt stand that allows users to adjust the height and angle of the monitor to exactly the right level to reduce the likelihood of eye strain and neck pain. The monitor's AMVA LED technology offers wide-viewing, high-contrast, vivid images.
However, what makes ErgoSensor technology and the new 24-inch professional monitor special is the way it interacts with users. Specifically, it can detect the position of the user's face and the angle of the user's head, measure the distance between the screen and the user's eyes to suggest how users can adjust their posture or correct their distance from the screen. In addition, the monitor records the time the user spends in front of the screen and reminds them when to take a break.
“The new 24-inch ErgoSensor display demonstrates MMD ’s commitment to workplace ergonomics,” explains Thomas Schade , Vice President of MMD . “As the MMD study shows , there is much room for improvement in the way offices are equipped to maintain good health, and this is something we take very seriously. Better ergonomics in the office means increased productivity: in the modern workplace there is no room for injuries and reduced efficiency. An early investment in ergonomic equipment will soon pay off.”
The Philips241P4QRYES 24- inch Brilliance LCD monitor with ErgoSensor is immediately available in stores with an indicative suggested retail price of €359.
