Earlier this week, the internet was flooded with fake Apple rumors from Piter Misek. In addition to his claims that Apple will hold an event in March that will focus on the Apple TV SDK, Misek also said that Apple will release a 4.8-inch iPhone next year, while iPhone 5 sales are declining significantly.
It only took a few minutes for someone to shut Misek up, while unlike him, Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster decided to tell interested investors that he doesn't know what Apple intends to present, but it will definitely do something.
In a note to investors today, Munster, instead of making claims about alleged production line leaks, preferred to admit that he has absolutely no idea what Apple intends to do, but he is certain that it will do something either in March or April.
Munster noted that Apple unveils a new product every four months (which is true), and that for the past two years they have been holding an event in March. Apple's last product announcement was on October 23, so Munster believes the Cupertino company is preparing to unveil something soon.
Normally, we wouldn't argue that Apple is preparing to unveil something new (given its track record), but the only rumors of a new product we've heard recently are about the iWatch, a device that probably won't make an appearance in 2013. If a Retina iPad mini was on the horizon, we'd probably know about it by now. So, we don't think Apple will do anything in March, especially since Jim Darlymple said nothing will happen.
Waiting for April or for some rumor/leak that may appear at the last minute.
