Google and Mozilla released two new versions of their famous browsers, fixing several vulnerabilities that had been identified in them, especially in Firefox , which included four vulnerabilities with the highest severity level.
Mozilla was the first to release the long-awaited Firefox 46, which brings, among other things, GTK3 support for Linux systems and fixes a total of 14 vulnerabilities – four of which were marked as highly critical.
More specifically, these vulnerabilities carry the identifiers CVE-2016-2804, CVE-2016-2805, CVE-2016-2806 and CVE-2016-2807 and concern security issues related to memory usage in the browser's Gecko engine.
Google also released a new version of Chrome for Windows, Mac, and Linux that addresses nine security vulnerabilities reported by its staff and independent security researchers. Six of those bugs earned researchers $14,000, while the largest reward the company offered to four researchers in total was $3,000.
