Bleep: A new chat app being developed by BitTorrent promises encrypted, decentralized conversations.
“We’ll never see your messages or metadata,” said Jaehee Lee, senior product manager for Bleep, in a blogannouncing the new app. “As far as we’re concerned, it’s just a Bleep for us.”
The chat app promises truly private, encrypted messages that use the same decentralized approach behind torrents. Windows 7 and Windows 8 users can sign up today to get the first version of Bleep, which is still in pre-alpha.
BitTorrent said through Lee that the app is aimed at people who want to secure the following situations: friends who want to keep a conversation private, journalists looking to protect anonymous sources, private conversations between diplomats, and for businesses that want to keep their message content safe from leaks or industrial espionage.
