Big brother NSA is monitoring French presidents & the Greek crisis. Recent WikiLeaks revelations report that the NSA has been spying onFrench presidents for the last ten years.
"The French people have the right to know that their elected government is subject to hostile surveillance by a supposed ally. French readers should expect more timely and important revelations in the near future," said WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
Just like with the scandal in Germany, where the NSA eavesdropped on Angela Merkel's conversations, the US agency does not seem to hesitate to spy on French presidents.
During the ten-year period covered by WikiLeaks' leaked documents, it appears that three French presidents were the recipients of NSA surveillance: Francois Hollande (2012 to date), Nicolas Sarkozy (2007–2012), and Jacques Chirac (2007–2005).
Compared to previous leaks, the documents released this time are fewer, but they highlight US interest in issues such as the Greek financial crisis, the internal affairs of the European Union, Franco-German relations, the conflicts in Palestine, and the recent global financial crisis.
Also significant was the NSA's interest in France's efforts to gain control of the UN Security Council, where it is one of the five permanent members, along with the UK, US, Russia and China.
Knowledge of France's movements could provide insightful details that are very helpful to US foreign policy, but also to control the UN Security Council.
It is almost certain that there will be several reactions from the French government in the coming days, just as happened with the Angela Merkel scandal.
Let us recall that in the end, German investigators stopped their legal investigation due to a lack of substantial evidence and non-cooperation on the part of the NSA.
