If you're looking for something different in a smartphone than the usual iPhone, Android or Windows Phone, then you can take a look at the BQ Aquaris E4.5, the first phone to run Ubuntu.
The Ubuntu is until now known as the most widespread alternative to Windows or Apple's operating system, being the most popular Linux distribution. In recent years, the British company Canonical, which is behind the operating system, has been working on extending the software to other devices, such as smartphones and tablets. The fruit of this work is the Aquaris E4.5. The device moves away from the familiar idea of applications that we can download. Instead, it offers "scopes" or home screens with content from the internet and our phone. Application creators are not required to develop a different version, as is the case with iOS, Android or Windows Phone. Instead, they just need to write the code in HTML5, the "language" used in all modern sites. Regarding the technical characteristics of the device, it will have a 4.5-inch, full HD 1080p screen and an 8 megapixel camera on the back and 5 megapixel on the front. Inside the device will be a Cortex A7 processor, 1.3GHz, with 1GB of RAM. Sales of the device will follow the usual pattern, as it will be available at periodic intervals, for a certain time each time. The first sales will start on February 10, through the Ubuntu pages on Twitter, Google+ and Facebook. Its price will be 170 euros.
