Several users have recently been banned from accessing the WhatsApp app. These users must have installed the app from third-party developers and not from the official company. Such versions are WhatsApp MD and Plus.
According to reports on January 21, 2015, WhatsApp, the widely used and popular messaging app, has begun temporarily banning users for 24 hours who are using other versions of the app and are being directed to download the official app from the Play Store.
In the last few hours, a large number of users have started complaining on Social Media about being blocked from the messaging service for 24 hours. However, this is temporary and users facing this issue will be able to access the app after the 24 hours have passed.
In an attempt to clarify why this is happening, the app's team explained in the FAQ on its website that it is against the terms of service for users to use any version of the app other than the official one.
Plus is a modified version of the official Android app , which is quite popular among advanced users who want a nicer interface and more features. Plus provides some additional features compared to the official version such as:
- 700 new topics
- Additional new emoticons/emojis
- You can set sharing options
- You can change the font, and its color
Users who have the Plus version installed on their smartphone, if they do not want to go through this 24-hour ban, would be advised to uninstall the application.
