Specifically, the investigation into the case began after a complaint from the 15-year-old's father, according to which unknown individuals had approached his minor daughter online, via a social networking site, and using threats, forced her to send them nude photos.
This was immediately followed by cooperation between the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate and the competent internet and social networking service providers in the USA, in order to verify the electronic traces of the management of the accounts in question - profiles of the perpetrators, on the social networking website.
After a thorough digital investigation and analysis of the case data, an Order and Decree were issued to lift the confidentiality of communications and, in cooperation with the competent internet and telecommunications service providers, the administrators - owners of the accounts in question on the social networking website were geographically verified and identified in the wider area of Arta.
Yesterday, police officers from the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate carried out legal searches at the homes of the owners of the two internet connections in question.
Within the framework of the preliminary investigation carried out, the involvement in the case of two minors (a 16-year-old foreigner and a 14-year-old) was identified, while on-site digital investigations determined the management of the accounts-profiles in question on the social networking website, through which the illegal acts had been carried out.
During the investigations, an internal computer hard drive and a laptop were found and seized, which will be sent to the Criminal Investigations Directorate for the necessary examinations.
The regular procedure file was submitted to the Arta First Instance Prosecutor's Office.
