By the end of August, free access will be possible at more than 20 central points within the administrative boundaries of the municipality of Thessaloniki
There are currently sixteen areas in Thessaloniki where citizens can have free access to the Internet via wi-fi hotspots.
These are: Aristotelous Square, HANTH, the lower entrance of the TIF, the White Tower, Nea Elvetias Park, Mina Patrikiou Square, Crete Park, ARIS Stadium (Alkminis Street), Papanastasiou Park, Romfei B' Square, Toumpa (swimming pool-Cultural Center), Ainou Square, P. Syndika Square, the Archaeological Museum (N. Germanou), Kaoudi Square and Anthokomiki Park.
The plan of the municipality of Thessaloniki provides that upon completion of the works by August 31, free access to the Internet will be offered in more than 20 central points within the administrative boundaries of the municipality.
"The creation of free internet access zones will contribute to the development, promotion and utilization of advanced IT and information technologies and will bring multiple benefits to both citizens and the local economy, as now, with simple steps, even people who are not familiar with technology will have the ability to access the internet," said Deputy Mayor for Finance, Entrepreneurship and Employment Hasdai Kapon.
