Avast , a company active in the field of antivirus & security software , has made a sensational blog post ! According to it, factory resetting an Android smartphone does not offer you the security you imagined, as your data can still be recovered in this case
The company says it conducted relevant tests –for its needs 20 used Android smartphones– to see if it could restore the data of its old users, which had been deleted before the devices went on sale.
Using widely available software, Avast claims to have managed to recover 40,000 photos of various contents that were stored on smartphones by their previous owners. Among them, of course, was material frompersonal moments of users that they would not want exposed to “foreign eyes”. In addition to photos, however, other data was also recovered, such as emails, text messages, contactsand other information of the previous owners of the devices.
So, is your data deleted forever after a factory reset of your device? According to Avast, no, although what is troubling is, of course, the… purposes for which the company is making such a publication. The solution it suggests to avoid problems is of course its own software, noting that it is more effective than the solution provided by Google.
