Mobile and computer users will be able to send and receive scented SMS messages, if all goes well today in the test that will be conducted on the system invented by David Edwards, a researcher at Harvard University.
His device, called "oPhone," will connect to iPhones, iPads, etc. and through it, one will be able to send or receive any scent they want from a range of 32 scents that the device covers. These scents can even be combined in 300 thousand ways.
The scent message, called “oNote,” will be sent from Manhattan to Paris and if successful, mass production of such devices will begin in 2015. The price of each device has already been set at $199. The selection and composition of the scents to be sent will be done through the “oPhone” perfume box and the “oSnap” application. The perfume box will be filled with special capsules of unique scents, called “oChips.”.
