Did you eat too much today? It makes sense, but if you really enjoyed, you shouldn't have any second thoughts. But what about simple everyday (and not... festive) "crap" that you would like to avoid or at least have a way to better control?
A team from SRI, a lab responsible for, among other things, the technology behind Siri , had a "smart" idea. What exactly? Create an app that would allow users to take a photo of the food they were about to eat and have it calculate calories !
The project is called Ceres and of course, there is still a lot of work to be done to complete its implementation. First of all, the issue of photographic recognition of foods must be solved and secondly, the way to calculate their… quantity on the plate.
On the other hand, it is always difficult to calculate how calorically heavy a dish is, as hidden fats (such as from excessive use of butter) can make a difference, but, in any case, you will have an approximation of how much what you eat can "burden" you.
SRI is continuing research and development on Ceres and is even looking for more partnersso that it can bring the technology to market within the next year.
We don't know if you would want to... take advantage of it, as, in some cases, you prefer pleasure over regret, but we're just letting you know that it might be out there soon..
