Not ready to wear Google Glass? An alternative way to access your smartphone's content could be hanging around your neck.
A digital device that looks like a necklace or pin could one day display emails, tweets and text notifications on nearby surfaces, allowing you to open them with gestures.
“The projector gives you a window into the virtual world that looks like a flashlight, as an alternative way to access information,” says Christian Winkler at Ulm University in Germany. The Ambient Mobile Pervasive Display team created a green “SMS” graphic that is projected in front of the user (see the video below). To find out who the message sender is, you hold your palm out in front of you and the sender’s name is displayed on it. To read the message, you make a gesture, such as a gentle swipe, and the text appears on your hand.
